Diablo II Compatibility issues

Back in the days when we use to have bulky monitor screens with Windows XP, the game was designed for that environment. Today we use bigger screens, different OS versions and this game may not run on a modern Windows version.

How to run Diablo II on Windows 7/8/10

Go to Diablo II folder and create a shortcut to game.exe. Use Properties for the shortcut, select Compatibility section, check Run this program compatibility more for, and chose Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Make sure also to check Run this program as an administrator. This fix should make the game to launch but because the game was designed to run on old monitor screens, there may be issues. How to run Diablo II in window mode

Use Properties for Diablo II executable shortcut, select Shortcut section and add at Target field at the end -w parameter. It should look like this:

Target: "D:\Games\Diablo II\Game.exe" -w

When the game is launched, click the Maximize button in order to make it bigger.

How to run Diablo II in full-screen mode

Same as window mode but parameter -w must be present along with parameter -nofixaspect. Use Properties for Diablo II executable shortcut, select Shortcut section and add at Target field at the end -w -nofixaspect parameters. It should look like this:

Target: "D:\Games\Diablo II\Game.exe" -w -nofixaspect

Also, the windows bottom start bar can be set to hidden, for a better full-screen experience.
